10-Day Rwanda – Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari

This 10-Day Rwanda–Uganda Safari, Gorilla Trekking, Chimpanzee Tracking, and Wildlife Expeditions starts in Rwanda with a Kigali city tour.

Then to Volcanoes National Park for golden monkeys, to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home to endangered mountain gorillas, the medley of wonders of Queen Elizabeth National Park, and lastly to the home of primates (primate capital), Kibale National Park.

10- Day Rwanda – Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari

Day 1Arrival in Kigali

Arrive at Kigali Airport, then transfer to Kigali for a city tour. You will pay a visit to the genocide museum, the Genocide Memorial Center at Gisozi

. From there, head back to your hotel for a relaxed overnight.

Day 2Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After having your breakfast, your driver/guide will take you on a Kigali city tour, which includes a visit to the Genocide Memorial Centre that gives you a glimpse into Rwanda’s history.

Later, you will be driven to Musanze near Volcanoes National Park, where you will have dinner and an overnight stay. The scenic journey takes approximately two hours, and upon arrival, you will check into your accommodation, enjoy dinner, and rest for the exciting days ahead.

Day 3Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will head out to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a golden monkey trekking experience.

The trek will take you through lush forests and scenic landscapes as your experienced guides share their knowledge about the golden monkeys and the park’s diverse ecosystem.

Upon finding the golden monkeys, you will have the opportunity to spend an hour observing them.

Once your trek is complete, you will return to the lodge for a well-deserved rest and lunch.

Day 4Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest

You will have breakfast and begin your journey to Western Uganda. The Bwindi Forest is indeed a remarkable and biodiverse destination with a unique history, making it one of the most popular places in the world for gorilla trekking.

Day 5Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Experience

Wake up early and have a hearty breakfast to fuel yourself for the day ahead. After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla tracking rules and safety guidelines.

Following the briefing, you’ll be assigned to a gorilla tracking group, along with a professional guide and park rangers.

Your group will then embark on a trek through the dense Bwindi forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The duration of the trek can vary, but it typically takes 2-6 hours to locate the gorillas, depending on their location.

Day 6Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After a relaxed breakfast, start the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Reach the lodge and enjoy the impressive view over Queen Elizabeth National Park and an evening game drive.

Day 7Lion Tracking & Boat Cruise Queen Elizabeth National Park

Discover Queen Elizabeth National Park in the cool morning.

We go for an early lion tracking experience accompanied by experienced trackers who use radio telemetry to locate the park’s lions.

After lunch in the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Here you have the chance to spot hippos along the banks of the channel.

Day 8Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, depart for Kibale National Park, the Primate Capital of the World. The scenic drive takes you through rolling countryside, tea plantations, and traditional villages,

If you arrive early enough, optional activities include crater lake visits or the Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves for cultural insight.

Day 9Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Nature Walk

Rise at dawn for an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing. Set out with expert guides into the dense rainforest in search of the resident chimpanzee communities.

Watch these fascinating primates swing through the canopy, forage, and interact as you spend up to an hour observing them in their natural habitat.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon at leisure, with an optional nature walk through the nearby forest trails.
