What type of vehicle will we be using on safari?
Every Jackal safari is run in a custom Toyota Land Cruiser — the 70-Series, purpose-built and extended for game viewing. Each is owned and maintained in-house, and fitted with a pop-up roof, oversized windows, and safari seating.
Will I get a window seat?
Always. Our vehicles are configured so every guest has a window seat with direct access to the pop-up roof — there are no middle seats, ever. We seat below full capacity so no one is ever crowded.
How are the vehicles maintained?
In our own workshop, by our own mechanics — serviced before and after every departure. Oil changes, undercarriage and chassis inspections, and multi-point checks are all done in-house, with no shortcuts.
What features do the vehicles have?
A pop-up roof, oversized windows, a built-in cooler/fridge, 110V & 220V power inverters, a two-way radio, a first-aid kit, luggage and coffee/tea box, reference maps, and an extended, wider interior with room to move and shoot.
What if our group cannot fit in one vehicle?
We simply add vehicles and travel in convoy — every guest still gets a window seat and the same standard of vehicle, guide, and comfort, keeping your group together throughout the safari.
Is the vehicle air-conditioned?
Yes — our Land Cruisers have climate control for transfers and travel between parks. On game drives, the pop-up roof and fully opening windows keep the cabin cool and open to the sights, sounds, and air of the bush.
What happens if the vehicle encounters a problem?
Every vehicle carries two spare tires, a heavy-duty jack, and a toolkit, and our guides are trained to handle bush repairs. We provide roadside support and, because we own the fleet, a replacement vehicle can be dispatched quickly if ever needed.
Can we request a specific vehicle for our safari?
Where availability allows, yes — including our 5-seat Standard for intimate journeys or our 7-seat Extended for larger groups. Let our concierge know your group size and preferences and we’ll configure the right vehicle.
Are children safe in the vehicles?
Yes. Every seat has a seatbelt, and child car seats are available on request when travelling with infants or young children. Our guides are also trained in child-friendly safari etiquette and pacing.
