Getting to Uganda: an overview
All international flights to Uganda land at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), about 40 km from Kampala and the gateway to your safari. There are no direct flights from the US or UK, so you will connect through a major hub — but the routings are well served by leading airlines.
Flying to Uganda from the UK
From London and other UK cities, expect one stop and roughly 11-15 hours total travel time. Popular routes connect through:
- KLM via Amsterdam
- Brussels Airlines via Brussels
- Qatar Airways via Doha
- Emirates via Dubai
- Turkish Airlines via Istanbul
- Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa, Kenya Airways via Nairobi, or RwandAir via Kigali
Flying to Uganda from the US & Canada
From the US and Canada, plan on one or two stops and around 18-24 hours total. The most comfortable routings connect through European or Middle Eastern hubs:
- Qatar Airways (via Doha), Emirates (via Dubai) and Turkish Airlines (via Istanbul) from major US gateways
- KLM / Delta via Amsterdam and Brussels Airlines via Brussels
- Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa
Visas & entry requirements
Most US and UK visitors need a visa, applied for online in advance via Uganda’s official e-visa portal. Travellers combining Uganda with Rwanda and Kenya often choose the East Africa Tourist Visa. A passport valid for 6+ months and a yellow fever certificate are required. We guide every client through the exact, current requirements.
Arrival & connecting to your safari
On arrival at Entebbe we meet you and handle everything — private transfers, domestic flights to the parks where useful (for example to Bwindi for gorilla trekking), and your full itinerary. Long-haul travellers often overnight near Entebbe before heading out.
