Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Arrive in Kigali. Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel to rest after your long flight.

Day 2: Drive to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive towards Volcanoes National Park. The journey reveals Rwanda’s famous rolling hills, neatly cultivated terraces, picturesque villages, and lush countryside.

Every turn presents spectacular photography opportunities. Farmers cultivate tea, coffee, bananas, and vegetables across fertile hillsides, creating some of Africa’s most beautiful rural landscapes.

Upon reaching Musanze, formerly Ruhengeri, enjoy magnificent views of the Virunga Volcanoes. This lively town serves as the gateway for Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and attracts travelers from around the world.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Begin the morning with an early breakfast before transferring to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for registration and a detailed briefing from experienced park rangers.

The briefing explains gorilla trekking rules, safety guidelines, conservation efforts, and responsible wildlife viewing practices. Groups then receive gorilla family assignments based on fitness levels and trekking preferences.

The adventure begins through cultivated farmland before entering dense montane rainforest. Towering bamboo forests, giant ferns, moss-covered trees, and volcanic vegetation create an unforgettable setting. Along the trail, visitors often encounter colorful birds, butterflies, forest mammals, and playful golden monkeys.

Day 4: Golden Monkey tracking & Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village

Following breakfast, you return to the park headquarters before entering the bamboo forests for an exciting golden monkey trekking experience.

Golden monkeys rank among the most colorful and entertaining primates in Africa. Their playful behavior, bright golden fur, and energetic movements provide excellent wildlife photography opportunities. During your allocated viewing time, you will watch these endangered monkeys jump between bamboo stems while feeding, playing, and interacting with one another.

Day 5: Hiking Mount Bisoke

Following breakfast, you will gather at the park offices for a briefing before your hike up Mount Bisoke. Standing at 3,711 meters, this dormant volcano is part of the Virunga range.

The hike is physically demanding, taking between 5 and 7 hours depending on the group’s pace, but the reward is breathtaking views from the summit and the crater lake. After the hike, you will return to your lodge to rest.

Day 6: Kigali City Tour and Departure

After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali, where you will go on a city tour.  During the city tour, you will learn about the history, culture, and people of Rwanda.

After the tour, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
