A Change of Pace
There is a different Africa at walking pace
Step out of the vehicle and the safari changes entirely. The scale shifts to the small and the sensory — the alarm call of a bird, a fresh track in the dust, the smell of wild sage crushed underfoot. Led by an armed ranger and a specialist guide, a walking safari is about reading the bush rather than covering ground.Lake Mburo National Park
One of the few Ugandan parks where walking is permitted, and the ideal introduction. With no elephant or lion, you can approach zebra, impala, eland and buffalo on foot in complete safety, learning the tracks and signs from a ranger who has walked this acacia country for years.
Good To Know
Safe, guided, unhurried
Every walk is led by a licensed ranger and moves at your pace. No particular fitness is required for the savanna walks — they are about observation, not distance.
